Most site’s with steam or thermal energy have insulated the system against heat losses – well, at least the main pipelines…. but what about the isolation valves, flanges and other odd-shaped components?

We have been finding that large number of these fittings, combined with higher surface areas, results in significant heat losses – ranging from 5% to 29% of site gas use!

Whilst the scale of energy/cost/carbon savings is variable, there is a common theme – the simple payback is typically less than 2 years! Occasionally the payback is slightly higher where access is limited or where specific materials are needed to survive the cleaning chemicals. The good news is – you can scale or stage the project to control the payback or fit the budget.
